Introduction to the project

I found an amazing project based upon the lush digital world of Epic Citadel (hat tip ICT with Mr. P). http://goo.gl/ZmEYBV. I tasked students with writing a story set in this world. Students spent days exploring the world and writing stories and taking screenshots before writing their lengthy stories.

    To add more interactivity, students used iMovie to make introductions and used the app, BookCreator, to compose the stories. To make plot heavy writing more interesting, I had the students practice different sentence types inspired by Alan Peat’s book of exciting sentences.  http://goo.gl/n2mRmA.  Some children used additional apps, including ComicLife and Telligami to enrich their stories. I also introduced a green screen app. Some students used this app to embed themselves into their stories.
